Initial Research

The Hive:

Initially visiting The Hive was very beneficial, as I was able to find out the information the library provides the children with and what they aim to teach them about the library itself. I was also shown previous activity sheets given to the children giving me ideas for my booklet. I think a form of hunt is appealing to children as it gives them the opportunity to independently explore the building without their teachers. I could also produce a task which asks the pupils to find specific books using the catalogue search.

BBC Bitesize:

BBC Bitesize was particularly useful to look at when researching the type of language and imagery appropriate for a key stage 2 audience. Bitesize uses the fish as a guide, or mascot guiding the children through the activities. I intend to design a character that is a friendly face for the children that encourages them to get involved in the activities.
