Roughs Development
Here are a few pages developed from my original roughs. The colour palette focuses on the gold and navy used in the Hive's logo. Bramble bee acts as a tour guide throughout the activities. I decided to use watercolor as The Hive is located by the water.
The opening page consists of my mascot for the Hive and the key logos that need to be included. There will be space for the student to write their name too. I intend to develop my typography and produce an illustrated type.
The librarians will give the children an introduction to how the library works. The children will be able to refer back to this when completing the activities. Small fact honeycomb boxes will be added to my pages providing additional information.
I have considered a find/treasure hunt task which involves the children searching for specific locations in the library. After speaking to the librarians they agreed that this would be a good idea, as the children are given a tour of the children's section. Cut outs of Bramble bee will be placed in the chosen areas, so the children can identify if they have successfully found the correct place. I think this will be engaging for the children, as it is a physical activity.
This involves the children finding specific books using the library catalogue search and finding out information such as the author and genre of the book. A possible smaller task at the bottom of the page could involve the children finding the genre of specific titles.
My back cover will include a summary of the project and provide further details about the Hive. This will include the address, contact details and opening hours. Hopefully this will encourage the children to return with their parents. I may consider including a colouring activity to be completed at home.
